Jelena Trivan
Ms Jelena Trivan, PhD, was born in 1973. She completed both her undergraduate and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade.
Until 2000, she worked as a literature teacher at the First Grammar School in Kragujevac (Prva kragujevačka gimnazija).
In the period from 2000 to 2006, she served as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights. During her term as Deputy Minister, she headed the Negotiating Team of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro for conclusion of the Agreement on National Minorities with the neighboring countries and the Agreement on Readmission with the member states of the European Union.
She was co-president of the intergovernmental commissions for protection of national minorities with Croatia, Hungary and Romania and Team Leader for drafting the National Minorities Act and the National Councils of National Minorities Act.
Since 2004, she represented Serbia in the Human Rights Committee of the Council of Europe. During this period, she was engaged in monitoring the status of human rights in the member states of the Council of Europe.
She was awarded the “The Man of the Year“ prize in 2011.
In the period from 2007 to 2014, she served as Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of The Republic of Serbia. During that time, she chaired the Committee for Culture and Information. She was a member of the European Integration Board, and the Interparliamentary Delegation between the European Parliament and The National Assembly of The Republic of Serbia.
In the National Assembly of The Republic of Serbia, she served as the President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Netherlands.
She was a member of the Program Board of the Radio Television of Serbia since 2013.
Since 27 January 2015 she held the position of the Director of Public Enterprise Official Gazette (Javno preduzeće Službeni glasnik).
In 2017, she received the Serbian Chamber of Commerce award “Manager of the Year” as well as the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce annual award “Belgrade Winner 2018” (“Beogradski pobednik za 2018. godinu”) in recognition of her achievements in the field of economy.
She served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Film Center of Serbia since 2018 and initiated the largest national film production program.
Since 2022 she has been an active member of the UNICEF Bosnia and Herzegovina Business Advisory Council.
As of September 2024, she has served as Ambassador for Persons with Down Syndrome.
In accordance with the Decision of Company’s Board of Directors, Ms Jelena Trivan, PhD, has been performing the duties of CEO of Mtel a.d. Banja Luka since 15 September 2021. On 20 August 2024 her mandate was confirmed for an additional three-year term.
